Hegseth Says U.S. Troops Are Fighting for Jesus. The Pope Disagrees. In sharp contrast to the Trump administration’s calls for Christian prayers for the war effort, Pope Leo XIV says military domination is “entirely foreign to the way of Jesus Christ.” nytimes.com/2026/04/03/world/middleeast/pope- … April 3, 2026 Pete Hegseth, the U.S. defense secretary, has asked the American people to pray “every day, on bended knee” for a military victory in the Middle East “in the name of Jesus Christ.” Pope Leo XIV, the first U.S.-born pontiff, has a starkly different take on what should be done in Jesus’s name. In a homily during a Mass on Thursday morning before Easter, the pope said that the Christian mission has often been “distorted by a desire for domination, entirely foreign to the way of Jesus Christ.” Since the United States and Israel began bombing Iran in late February, the pope has consistently called for an end to the violence and a return to dialogue to resolve the conflict. …Okuningi
Every night I give a Latin blessing to the housekeeper. As soon as I begin the blessing, my dog wakes up from sleep and follows me to my sleeping quarters.

The Passion of the Christ movie. WCBOhio on Nov 14, 2015 This is an old episode of What Catholics Believe from 2004. It was recorded shortly after the release of Mel Gibson's film, "The Passion of the Christ". Due to poor picture quality the program was never shown. Hoping there may still be some interest in the discussion however, it was decided to salvage the footage by converting it to black and white and make the best of what was there. The audio is still quite good. The host was James Urling, a Cincinnati area attorney. At the time, What Catholics Believe was broadcast on Time-Warner cable, hence the running time to fit inside a half-hour slot (this is true of all the older series of shows). Also like all the older shows, this one too is small in format. This is due to the deprecated analog NTSC broadcast standards that were used at the time.

Following government directives, public Easter services in Dubai have been cancelled since Good Friday. The regime's excuse is that tensions in the Middle East are escalating. Dubai has two Catholic parishes - Saint Mary's and Saint Francis of Assisi in Jebel Ali. Both have confirmed the closures on their websites and will remain closed "until further notice". Saint Mary’s Church is one of the largest Catholic parishes in the world, with around 30,000 members, many of whom are Filipino workers. On Good Friday, many Catholics who had not been informed of the closure were seen praying outside on the pavement instead. Easter liturgies were only being streamed online. Bishop Paolo Martinelli, Apostolic Vicar of Southern Arabia, acknowledged worshippers' disappointment at missing Holy Week celebrations. #newsAfvbsxvwah
Facial expressions and body language are more revealing than the spin doctors’ narratives. Have you ever seen Trump like this before? US fighter jets shot down, oil prices skyrocketing, no support from NATO countries, allies pulling away... He didn’t see this coming.
IS THE CATHOLIC CHURCH DIVIDED? (and is Division so Bad?) fr.williamnicholas Fr. Bill addresses divisions within the Catholic Church - why some divisions can be bad, and why some are good for the Church as a whole. Given that Jesus appointed 12 Apostles instead of just 1, could this be what Jesus intended for a Church that is meant to spread throughout the world?
“Prayer to St. Raphael ~ Sancte Raphael ~ (God has healed) Vouchsafe, O Lord God, to send unto our assistance Saint Raphael the Archangel: and may he, who, we believe, evermore standeth before the throne of Thy majesty, offer unto Thee our humble petitions to be blessed by Thee. "Prayer to the Most Holy Name of Jesus by St. Bernard of Clairvaux Jesus, the very thought of Thee with sweetness fills the breast! Yet sweeter far Thy face to see, and in Thy presence rest. No voice can sing, no heart can frame nor can the memory find, a sweeter sound than Jesus' name, the Savior of mankind. O hope of every contrite heart! O joy of all the meek! To those who fall, how kind Thou art! How good to those who seek! But what to those who find? Ah! this, nor tongue nor pen can show the love of Jesus, what it is, none but His loved ones know. Jesus! our only hope be Thou, as Thou our prize shalt be; In Thee be all our glory now, and through eternity."
"By the word of His majesty He has set up all things, and by a word He can overturn them." Saint Clement "Let us fix our eyes on Christ's blood and understand how precious it is to His Father, for poured out for our salvation it has brought to the whole world the grace of repentance." Saint Clement [again] "In order that the mission entrusted to them might be continued after their death, [the apostles] ... designated such men and made the ruling that likewise on their death other men should take over their ministry." Saint Clement "Grant to them, Lord, health, peace, concord, and stability, so that they may exercise without offense the sovereignty that you have given them." Saint Clement

Many dioceses across Europe, North America, and Asia have seen significant increases in Catholic baptisms and conversions this Easter. The strange thing is that anti-Catholic media including New York Times, Washington Post or CNN advertised this trend. The most significant increase was reported in France, where 21,386 catechumens were baptized during the Easter Vigil. The total included more than 13,000 adults and over 8,000 adolescents, marking the highest figure ever recorded in the country. Outside Europe, large numbers were also reported in parts of Asia. In Hong Kong, approximately 2,500 catechumens were baptized, while Singapore reported 1,089 catechumens entering the Church. In North America, several major dioceses published substantial baptism figures. The Archdiocese of Toronto reported 1,584 catechumens, while Vancouver recorded around 650 catechumens. In the United States, diocesan figures included approximately 900 catechumens in Richmond (Virginia), more than 680 in …Okuningi
