Korea: Show Business Makes Its Way into the Novus Ordo Liturgy (Video)

The Salesians in South Korea ordained three priests and a deacon in January.

After the ceremony, the newly ordained decided to turn the church into a concert hall, cheers and applause included.

Not everyone was happy: "Some have expressed concern that this performance may undermine the sanctity of ordination and the traditions of Catholicism," the creator of the performance admitted in the video below.

He insists that the performance took place separately from the ordination Mass, which was "solemnly celebrated in accordance with Catholic tradition".

It was only after the Mass had ended (but the bishop and his co-celebrants were still present) that the priest and deacon, dressed in liturgical garb, gave a very secular performance to thank those present, "in the tradition (sic!) of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Korea".

According to the author, "it was a moment that reflected the dynamism and energy of a religious order dedicated to youth work".

The song used in the performance was a hymn loved by many Koreans, and some of the lyrics were adapted to bring them into line with the values of the Catholic faith.

"Although this attempt may be unfamiliar to some, I ask for your generous understanding," the creator of the performance concludes.

Similar explanations and excuses were used half a century ago in the Western hemisphere to begin a process that has led to the present disintegration of the liturgy and the Church. A (not so) small mistake in the beginning, a big mistake in the end.

So sad that most NO priests see themselves as entertainers first and foremost. What else do you expect from modernist church?
