Israeli Occupation kills Head of Orthopedic Department at Shifa Hospital, Adnan Al-Bursh
The Commission for Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club reported the deaths of two prisoners from Gaza, including Dr. Adnan Ahmed Al-Bursh, Head of Orthopedics at Al-Shifa Hospital.
In a statement on Thursday, the commission and the club confirmed that Dr. Al-Bursh was killed by the Israeli Occupation Forces after being detained in December 2023 while in Al-Awda Hospital. He died in Ofer Prison on April 19, 2024.
Dr. Al-Bursh had previously been injured while at the Indonesian Hospital about five months ago.
The second martyr was Ismail Abdel Bari Rajab Khadr, who died after being detained. His body, along with dozens of other detainees, was returned on Thursday through the Kerem Shalom crossing.
Both the Commission and the Club condemned the torture and attacks against detainees in Gaza. They described Dr. Al-Bursh's death as a deliberate assassination targeting doctors and Gaza's health system, including the attack on Al-Shifa Hospital.
They mourned the deaths of Al-Bursh and Khadr, highlighting the ongoing torture and medical crimes against detainees, as well as the continued enforced disappearances. They called on international institutions to take action to stop and investigate these crimes, emphasizing the importance of revealing the fate of detainees and ensuring their human rights.
